Biographical informationJozef Podhoranský was born in Bratislava (Slovakia), studied cello at the Conservatoire of his home town and at the P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow under N. Chomicer and V. Fejgin.
He is winner of numerous competitions and has often been awarded prizes for his mature art, also later.
As soloist he regularly appears in concert halls at home and abroad and at music festivals. He is also demand for chamber music.
He premiered compositions of his contemporaries and made several recordings for radio, TV and music publishers.
He teaches as a professor at the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU) in Bratislava, and international master classes held in Slovakia, Hungary and Austria form an important part of his work.
